I'm considering bi-wiring my speakers and I know it's not ideal but will it affect anything if one end of the cables are terminated with banana plugs and the other bare wire or different connectors?

Hi. Bi-wiring will give you better soundstaging both left to right & back to front, clearer, more defined sound & seperation of instruments.

If you want to try it, go along to your local hifi store and ask if they'll do a sale or return deal on some decent speaker cables - they may even loan you some demonstration cables. then you can take them home & try for yourself!
