I beleive isolating loudspeakers from items of potential resonance is a good thing to do. You can do it with DIY means as well. I am sure they will reduce structure born sympathetic
resonance to a degree.

Sadly it is very difficult to isolate completely.

As you mention wool type material and also something expensive that is lead impregnated (see Studio spares).
I think it is known as "sheetblock"

Otherwise any wooden beams will transmit low frequency energy very effectively.

I have 2 paving slabs under my PMC IB1's I just purchased them from Wickes. Do the job nicely. The speakers are also seated on neoprene pads.

I agree that room treatment is very important indeed, it is not a "sexy " upgrade but it gets the best from your equipment. This is guaranteed.
