Hi,
I just need a fairly basic mini system with a CD player, remote control and able to plug a memory stick in and play it / use the remote to skip to the next track.
I have a M38 in one room at home which I'm really pleased with but this one doesn't need to be to the same quality so am looking for a budget system but with reliability at the top of my list. Can anyone think of any cheaper reasonable alternatives?? The M 38's also been discontinued so it looks as though the M 39 is the alternative but it's £250, I don't need any speakers either.
I did see this SANDSTROM SHFUSB10 Micro Hi-Fi System - Black buy online | Currys
but one review I saw said someone took 2 of them back as they wouldn't play home written CD-R's which I use quiet a lot.
Any other suggestions much appreciated.

Hello. Have a Marantz sr7000. I am connecting a PS3 and digital tv box to the TV via HDMI. To get the surround signal out i am using a optical cable from the TV to SR7000 (LD/digital4). In the display it only says (in red) "L" and "R", the other surround speakers do not show up. What am i doing wrong? i get sound from all speakers in test sound. seems i get surround in "movie" mode, but not sure if it is pro logic or not. Should be more speakers than just "l" and "r" showing in my display

TV - Samsung Series a480 plasma
Speakers - Kef 1005

I'm looking at replacing my Arcam Alpha 8/8P combo with either of the above. From what I've read in the HiFi press there's little in it...

My source is an Arcam CD37 and the speakers are Monitor Audio BR4's.

I would be planning on continuing to use the Alpha 8P. Any comment feed back appreciated.
