CD/SACD/DVD/Minidisc Players:: How Do I Connect A CD Player To My Aiwa System?
Hi,

Ok thanks for the info.
I'll just plug a CD into any Audio In pair then, there are a few of them on there under the 'TV' and Audio' headings.

With regard to the Phono sockets where the record deck currently is, it specifies next to it that it is for the Aiwa record deck, but can also be used as an auxilliary input, hence my original assumption.

Thanks,
Dave

CD/SACD/DVD/Minidisc Players:: Hum in one channel
Can anyone help me with this problem? I just set up my amp + CD player + speakers again, after a few months not using them. I find that a problem has appeared in the form of a hum in the left channel. NB (1) this only happens when I connect the CD player. I have played my laptop through the amp, and there is no hum. (2) it is still there even if I connect the CD player to a different input in the amp. (3) the hum is always in the left channel, even if I switch the leads. I have tried different leads, with no change.

CD player is a NAD. Hope you can help.

cheers,

Colin

Four Times Oversampling CD Players [by johnriley1uk]

CD/SACD/DVD/Minidisc Players:: Four Times Oversampling CD Players
I know it's very old-fashioned technology, but my Philips CD160 Four Times Oversampling CD player has just died. It's lasted pretty well....

What would you recommend that I might like as a replacement, giving the same smooth, rich sound that I've grown to love?

All music types need to be catered for.

What you can also do is, keep your MF cd player and first a buy a cheaper streamer. So you can get used to the concept and sound. And if this works out for you , the next step can be, upgrading your streamer with a good DAC. In in the end, you might wanna get rid of your Musical Fidelity. ( Although, I doubt you really want :)

CD/SACD/DVD/Minidisc Players:: Ripping SACD?
Here's a link about the PS3s - http://code.google.com/p/sacd-ripper/
This is all I've found so far. Apparently there are now some DACs which will do DSD streams - see for example http://www.audiostream.com/content/dsd-ready-dacs-short-list

He is quite a funny guy! I have talked with him once at one of his KI Pearl promotion tours. He adviced me to get a tube pre amp and transistor power amp, cos Mr. ishiwata uses this himself at home:)

CD/SACD/DVD/Minidisc Players:: CD Player Upgrades
I also really enjoyed the analog sound of my Meridian 206B.
It outperformed a lot of modern cd players.

What you could do to upgrade is use a superclock and replace some opamps and condensators for better ones. Some companies are specialized in doing these modifications.

I think you will be suprised about the potential of your Meridian setup.

CD/SACD/DVD/Minidisc Players:: Marantz CD6004 Ungradeable? CD6004 Vs. CD63MkIISE-KI Sig.?
Depending on your budget, I would suggest the best sonic results would come from a cheap CD and sensibly priced external DAC setup. I'm not sure where upgrading would take you and how cost effective it might prove.

The Marantz Kis all had good chassis and reasonable transports. Feeding Ki output into any of the new breed of utility DACS may well fit the bill and also give you other workable iPod options as needs demand and budget allows.

Happy hunting.

Try looking on a popular auction site for second hand Arcam, these I think are now exellent value and perform very well as DVD and CD playback.
