DAB/Analog Tuners:: NXP Introduces High-Performance Silicon Tuners With Zero-Power Loop-Through for Cable STBs
EINDHOVEN, THE NETHERLANDS and SHANGHAI, CHINA, Mar 16, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- NXP Semiconductors N.V. NXPI 0.00% , the global market leader in silicon TV tuners, today introduced the TDA18250A and TDA18260A -- its latest high-performance single and dual silicon tuners for cable set-top-boxes (STBs) covering worldwide digital cable standards. The TDA18250A and TDA18260A are the industry's first silicon tuners to offer zero-power loop-through, enabling STB manufacturers to comply with the latest EU Ecodesign Directive requirements, which set standby power consumption levels at less than half a watt for simple STBs starting in 2013.

The new generation of cable silicon tuners from NXP is also the industry's first to fully integrate 8-kV of ESD protection inside the chip, enhancing robustness and further reducing the number of components required. Together, the integrated zero-power loop-through and ESD protection help to save PCB space in the STB, simplifying layout at the critical RF antenna input section, enabling better RF performance, and bringing down the total of bill of materials (BoM) by approximately US 20 cents.

"The TDA18250 is widely known as the 'silicon tuner of choice' for the growing cable STB market in China, due to its performance, cost-effectiveness, high level of integration, and proven manufacturing quality. Today, we're introducing NXP's next-generation TDA18250A and TDA18260A silicon tuners, which are the industry's first to enable zero-power loop-through and integrated ESD protection of 8 kV," said Luca Lo Coco, director, cable product line, NXP Semiconductors. "Delivering compelling performance advantages while consuming less power -- and in a smaller PCB space -- the TDA18250A and TDA18260A have been designed from the ground up to be the optimal choice for new cable STB development worldwide."
With the right assistance and understanding, they Children Oil Paintings are actually a very realistic way of having a item of art without investing too much, or without attaching up a very lots of money in an financial commitment.
------------
Oil Painting For Sale
DAB/Analog Tuners:: Display folders on a USB stick
I want a DAB radio receiver that will also play MP3 files from a USB memory stick. I have one for the car loaded with classical music organised into folders. Beethoven 1; Beethoven 2 etc etc.

The car player allows me to browse through the folders and then select the one I want to play the music files from.

I need the same functionality on a HiFi system. All I can see in the local shops are units that list all the tracks but NOT the folders. If I want a Vaughan Williams piece that means scrolling through a hundred or more tracks to find it. What I want to to just scroll through the folders.

Does anyone know of a HiFi system that will do what my car radio does ???.

DAB/Analog Tuners:: Best Aerial to use with Denon TU 260L
I've tried various external aeriels of various quality and price, and the best I have found, BAR NONE, is an old 'homebase' CB antenna!!

You can buy a 'Sirio Signalkeeper' brand new for 35 pounds, and second-hand, closer to a tenner! I have mounted mine on my chimney-breast, and just have the antenna without the 'groundplane-legs'. I also sprayed mine a 'duck-egg' blue so that it doesn't shine in the sun. I suppose that because they are made for 'transceiving' the build quality is better...

Worth a try, and not as conspicious as you might imagine. It's a meter tall, but once mounted at such a height and out of immediate sight, it is barely noticeable......

Re: Internet radio [by Newbie123]

DAB/Analog Tuners:: Internet radio
I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would just give a quick update on my experiences with the TEAC...

It's been confined to the 'bedroom' hi-fi, and my trusty (old) Pioneer F304RDS has been unboxed, and pressed back into service.

As much as I love all the extra facilities and functions that the TEAC radio had, I found that more and more, all I would listen to was the FM stations. Once the novelty of 'playing' with the tuner waned, I opted for the immediate, clear, rich quality of the FM over the 'quantity' of Internet and DAB.

'Internet Radio', as a concept, is brilliant. I decided not to get rid of the TEAC, because there are stations that are out there (such as KCDX) which caters to my taste in music (70's rock and Americana) and the odd radio-play, but the quality of the signal (even at 256kps) is audibly inferior on my livingroom hifi, and this in my opinion is the problem with internet radio. I live in the Scottish Highlands, and my internet speed is frankly rubbish. If I try to listen to low bit-rate stations, the inferior signal becomes distracting. If I listen to higher bit-rate stations, (a signal which still cannot match the quality of FM)I have the constant 'stop/start' of buffering, which is way beyond distracting!! Add to this the difficulty in navigating, and the whole thing becomes tedious...

It's become a 'toy' which I use in my bedroom for novelty, but its not really for 'serious' listening.

DAB/Analog Tuners:: RDS
RDS allows stations to transmit additional types of information via encoded digital signals that can be received and displayed by the user's Radio. RDS operates by adding data to the baseband signal that is used to modulate the radio frequency carrier.

Hi all,

I have been given this unit and am trying to find out some more information about it, as there doesn't seem to be a lot out there, ie how old it is, whether it is worth keeping? Does anyone know when I can get a manual from?
thanks...
