Well as I said, good luck in your search. I've never seen a good word printed about Rega Cartridges before. Some people like the Grado Black, I don't think it is all that good, but not too pricey.

Turntables & Vinyl:: Looking for a turntable
Hard to find a Rega for £100 these days - I've been on ebay looking out for one for a friend! Most people selling them seem to know they're sought after. But I agree about the Pro-Ject decks - we found one for £55 in good nick and with a cartridge (don't forget to factor that into your budget if you're buying second hand). They're great decks, and bargains can still be found, leaving money left over for a phono stage, which as previous posters have intimated, really will make all the difference. Good luck!

Turntables & Vinyl:: Cobbling together a new system, need serious help!
If you're buying an adaptor, make sure the current is sufficient for the turntable make sure you get the right type (AC or DC) and I've it's DC make sure it's the right way round (Centre pin positive or Centre pin negative)Or your turn table will run backwards :P

Turntables & Vinyl:: Transcriptors Limited
I wonder if anyone has had any successful dealings with Transcriptors recently?

I ordered (and paid for) some small items ( bearings, oil, belt etc) in June 2011. Of course nothing arrived. Telephone is never answered but a few emails have gotten through. The most recent answer was about 3 months ago and said order would be sent in 3 days!!! Needless to say nothing has arrived. Has he had a nervous breakdown or is it just a scam?

Trouble is I need the parts to repair my turntable.
Has anyone had a recent successful experience?

Turntables & Vinyl:: project p2 turntable
It's difficult for us to make a recommendation as we are the distributor. For what it's worth, Pro-ject models are designed using Ortofon cartridges and the VTA is set at 18mm which applies to most MM and MC models.

I hope this helps.

Turntables & Vinyl:: USB turntables
Agree with above. A seperate phono stage may give you the opportunity to adjust the gain on input. There are many cases where the digital input is overloaded and system settings will not accept change.

Can I ask what cartridge you are looking at?

If you are buying a good cartridge then I would expect it to be fitted free.

If it's an Ortofon then we will gladly advise on this and there will be full guides in the support section of our website.

Turntables & Vinyl:: Advice on Turntable and Denon D-M38
Sounds like your a bit conflicted, do you want a system that's small and pretty or do you want to get a small slice of the Hi Fi pie? If it were me I'd say go for proper seperates & speakers, especially if you want to get the best out of the deck (Regas are a great starter deck).

The marantz PM 5004 amp & cd would be a god place to start, match some speakers up and you'd have something that would stand head & shoulders above the Denon sound quality wise.
