Cables, Interconnects & Mains Conditioning:: Help with Turntable plug to Amp socket mismatch ???
Hi , If anyone knows a solution (Or specific part to buy). I have JVC QL-A2 Turtable , and a JVC JA-S22 Amp. The plug and socket are shown in the picture. But essentially the plug is too large for the socket. And the turntable has no ground lead to attach to the amp. Any ideas ?? Many thanks. (photo attached)

Yes the speaker noise is really a issue these days and when we talk about them being used in side the car. The noise is more immense and is not drawn out very easily.
The car speakers are one of important source of entertainment inside car.

Cables, Interconnects & Mains Conditioning:: ETI making a comeback?
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone remembers ETI?

They made the bulletplug like 10 years ago or something. I have their Q1000 interconnect and love them heaps but have just seen they updated their website?

Are they making a comeback? I also read that they are making a HDMI cable? does anyone know anything about these?

also, I was thinking of getting the ac power enhancing cable for my system at home but wasn't too sure. I read a review from their site done by stereo times? and that almost sold me but I wanted to see if anyone had any real experience and feedback for me.

Sett

Cables, Interconnects & Mains Conditioning:: New to HI-FI
As your Rotel doesnt have output transformers, it doesnt have a 8 or 4 ohm output. These are mostly reserved to tube amps or Mcintosh uses them in their transistor designes also. Your Rotel shouldn't have any problems with driving your MF speakers at all.

Although your posting is from some years ago, I would suggest u to use spikes under your speakers ( and/or stands )to get the bass more in control.

Cables, Interconnects & Mains Conditioning:: What cable to upgrade first?
I would purchase the following :

12AWG OFC copper cable for your speakers I suggest not paying more that £2.00 a meter find it on ebay new.

Here you go:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Speaker-Cab ... ology&hash=item23066fc380

And for phono's I suggest spending no more than on something like this:

http://www.cables2u.co.uk/profigold-p ... y-interconnect-p-656.html

It is incredibly unlikely you will hear any significant differences with crazy priced audiophile cables.

All the best.

Cables, Interconnects & Mains Conditioning:: Mains Conditioner from a microwave?
It is not recommended, buy a mains board with RFI filtration
which will be designed for such duties. You may find the filtering is specific only to microwave generation (approx 2.4 gHz)

I recently picked up a TACIMA 6 way and it seems like a very high quality product.

Cables, Interconnects & Mains Conditioning:: Help Wanted
3.5 jack implies headphone output, go with the phono output, they are both essentially unbalanced audio connections and in a TV there will nothing but a little audio opamp driving the output so they will be much of a muchness.

The phono outs will be designed to operate at line level. It will also leave the headphone output free.

Cables, Interconnects & Mains Conditioning:: 'burning in'??
I think it's common knowledge, and not unreasonable that electrical components work at their best when the components within are 'warmed up', to their optimum working temperature, it makes sense, that when circuits are stabilised they work better in a more uniform manner.

I don't possibly see how this could transfer to loudspeaker cable or interconnects.

Clearly the inherent heat from a valve amp could radiate and be transferred to the cables, but I can't offer an opinion there as I don't use valve amps.

I've played my hifi system for in excess of 24 hours and can assure you, no interconnects or loudspeaker cable fluctuate in temperature.

Saying that, hifi is an hobby, and by definition, its all about experimenting, some to the extent that its more than a hobby.

I'd hate to think I'd spent thousands of pounds on loudspeaker cable and interconnects and wasn't getting some kind of improvement, and in reality, there probably is an improvement.

The improvement though is heavily governed by the law of 'diminishing returns'.

Does a £100 interconnect,'sound' 10 times better than a £10 interconnect ?... No, of course not, 99.9% of listeners would fail to notice a difference.

The point is, if you have an hobby, and it's really something you enjoy, then there is no rights and wrongs, there's only preferences, and if a £1000.00 interconnect makes it right,, then go for it.

Cables, Interconnects & Mains Conditioning:: Ground Loop Eliminator?
Problem is now resolved. firstly the source has changed (now a desktop PC) and I am know using a different cable I have had the amplifier professionally cleaned and serviced (necessary as it kept cutting out on one channel). One or more of these things has resolved the issue of the background hum.
