Hi guys, after recently getting my first system set up, i have come across an annyoing problem with reception, we are in a bad area for signal from TV and radio it seems, i can get mono signal ok on this with some strategic playing around with an aerial, but i want to get stereo signal and it just wont have it, does anyone know what the bet aerial outdoor or indoor would be to use on this, and also if this tuner in particular is signal hungry, as i tried an amplified aerial and it had no noticeable effect on this, but on my old micro seperates it improved stereo reception considerably albeit the old micro is a newer piece of technology so maybe that was why, any advice will be appreciated, many thanks

Hi,
There is no substitute for a good quality external aerial. They needn't cost much (I recently had one put up with a stonking TV aerial and the cost was less than £200). The one on my house in Manchester gets Welsh radio, radio sheffield etc and the main stations are at a very high level. If you are going to be in the property for a while then I can't recommend it highly enough. Dave

I've tried various external aeriels of various quality and price, and the best I have found, BAR NONE, is an old 'homebase' CB antenna!!
You can buy a 'Sirio Signalkeeper' brand new for 35 pounds, and second-hand, closer to a tenner! I have mounted mine on my chimney-breast, and just have the antenna without the 'groundplane-legs'. I also sprayed mine a 'duck-egg' blue so that it doesn't shine in the sun. I suppose that because they are made for 'transceiving' the build quality is better... Worth a try, and not as conspicious as you might imagine. It's a meter tall, but once mounted at such a height and out of immediate sight, it is barely noticeable......
