If you're in SA go do the tour of Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana with David Rattray if you can. Superb!

i use justsnipe.com but there are hundreds of different sites. It is free to snipe up to 5 times a week. If you want to snipe more you have to pay.

Why should you snipe? It saves a hell of a lot of money! There's no security issue, and even if something happened, Paypal would cover the costs.

Hmmm, really want to get some new speakers. Would love some wharfedale 9.1s as i've heard so many good things about them. Will wait till i move to germany in june so i'll be able to get them tax free when i'm out there.

What are the positives and negatives of using banana plugs to connect loudspeakers to amplifier?

All i can think of...

Positive:

Reduced time to connect speakers to amp (only applicable if you move setup a lot).

Negative:

Slight drop in sound quality (?)

A downgrade! Now you really do have some serious kit. Can you post some pics please so we can all drool over it.

I remember seeing years ago a pair loudspeakers made by McClaren F1 apparently constructed utilising Formula 1 technology - they were retailing for £20,000. Can't believe they were worth it tho.

I also haven't really thought about what i'd buy if i was forced to spend the money on on hifi (the more pressing issue right now is buying a new car).

Here's one for those of you with a little spare time on your hands this weekend....

If you were given £10,000 in hifi vouchers, that you could not sell or reclaim for cash, and were tasked to build a brand new hifi from scratch, what would you buy?

... or if that's a bit too lengthy.....

What one piece of kit would you buy for £10,000 or less to add to your existing set up? (the one thing that you have always lusted after but never been able to afford)

Top tip - use one of the numerous "snipe" websites to do the hard work of bidding at the last moment for you. They are free, work every time, and completely avoid unecessary bidding wars.

I was wondering the other day how much of the kit that is sold on ebay is stolen. The growth of Ebay must have catalysed the thievery trade. I must admit that i have bought some kit off ebay with no packaging, no instructions and where the seller had little knowledge about the thing he was selling - pretty dubious.

Ok you've almost shut me up this time.

The majority of the music i listen to is electronically produced, mixed and recorded etc... and i reckon that these sounds are less complex than say a musical instrument and therefore probably suffer less disruption when compressed into MP3. Sounds about right?

I have to admit i have never experimented with classical music which has got to be the most difficult to reproduce. BTW, I have had the pleasure of listening to a few classical orchestras play live, and whilst the sound is truly delectable, it's never quite loud enough to satisfy (sitting amongst the orchestra may solve this problem).
