I was just pondering to myself about whether it might be useful to have a section on the forum for people who are new/developing their understanding of hi-fi, as certain topics often crop up surrounding this area.

Not quite sure what you'd call it, but it would be good to have some "stickies" posted up there for people to be able to use as points of reference to get the basics of putting together a first system and explaining, for instance, why listening to equipment is key before purchasing etc. Also elements such as the effects of the individual listening space/environment could be delved into and other pointers which could be of help.

Just a thought really, and I'd be quite happy to have a bash at draughting out something which I think might be suitable if that would be of any use?
