I've got a couple of SACD (Hybrid) from 2L and have ripped them to my computer to the flac lossless format. Am I getting all of the true SACD sound this way? If not, what could I do to have the music on my computer?

You've almost certainly only ripped the CD layer. The SACD layers are quite difficult to extract, and you'd really need a DSD player to play them anyway. Maybe some early PS3s can do this, but I don't know for sure.

Some pro kit may do it, but would cost.

Thanks Dave2012. You say "PS3" -- you mean a Playstation 3? How about a Playstation 2? But if not PS2, which PS3 exactly?

I really don't know. I'm only passing on a rumour which would need to be checked out more carefully. There's hardly any domestic kit which will work with DSD.

There might be a slight quality loss if you convert SACD to PCM, though it should then be possible to "rip" that way. Unfortunately you might have to do it in real time, for example using an SACD player with HDMI output to an AV system. Technically what you might be wanting to do should be feasible, but in practice for non professionals with moderate budgets it maybe impossible. Ripping the CD layer of an SACD is, of course, not a problem, and quick. The companies which collaborated on SACD may have shot themselves in their feet because of paranoia about copying, and ensured that SACD will hardly have any market.

Here's a link about the PS3s - http://code.google.com/p/sacd-ripper/
This is all I've found so far. Apparently there are now some DACs which will do DSD streams - see for example http://www.audiostream.com/content/dsd-ready-dacs-short-list
