Speaker cable lengths...how critical?

Hi

I have relocated my hi-fi setup and as a result, my left speaker (Monitor Audio GS20) is now 5m from my Arcam FMJ A32 amp. The right speaker is only just over 1m away. I currently have two pairs of 2m lengths of Chord Epic Twin speaker cables, which sell for around £40 per metre. As my system is bi-amped, I would therefore be looking for 20m of cable to balance the lengths up. Would the £800 outlay be justified or would I be ok with just getting the 5m lengths for the left speaker? Anyone's views would be appreciated.

It's SUPPOSED to be critical, but you'll only know if you try it with different length cables. I had the same problem ( 2x7m, bi-wired). My dealer said to get 2 longer lengths (well he would wouldn't he), so i did.

I have no regrets - if you got the dosh, lay out on two longer lengths - if not, buy 2 longer lengths of slightly cheaper cables!

The question is for a given budget: Will 6m (5m + 1m) of more expensive cable sound better than 10m (5m + 5m) of cheaper cable...?

I have no idea.
I use NVA LS5. Very impressive. I've never tried this comparison, but I'd bet that 5m + 1m of LS5 would sound better than 5m + 5m of LS3.
