Hi Chunkolini here.
I make bespoke racking and shelving, I could make you a unit to your measurements. I have designed a modular shelving system based around hand brazed steel frames that are wall and floor mounted, hence rigid, they are also minimalist in style and he says modestly damn fine looking. Have a look at www.coolshelving.com let me know what you think of my stuff.
Best wishes, Chunko'

I use 18mm MDF screwed to heavy duty shelving brackets bolted into a brick wall. All equipment is levelled.
Surely no one could honestly suggest that ANY rack sitting on my suspended timber floor could be more rigid and thus sound better than my arrangement?

Come and have a go if your think your hard enough!

The demons in my mind...

PS is that picture of chunkolini himself? If so, he looks utterly terrifying with that blow torch...
